Through the Lens

I’m Luke, a 23-year-old wildlife photographer and videographer from Delray Beach, Florida.

I got into photography when I was 10, starting with birds in my backyard. Since then, it has evolved into something much bigger—documenting wildlife, marine life, and landscapes across places like Australia, Asia, and New Zealand.

A lot of that comes from growing up around the ocean. I spent years snorkeling, diving, and fishing along the Florida coast, and over time I started noticing how quickly these environments were changing. Photography became a way to capture what I was seeing and share it with people who might never experience it themselves.

More recently, I have been focused on underwater work—using new gear to get closer to marine life and document moments that are hard to access. Some of my favorite experiences have come from those environments, including swimming with a humpback whale in Byron Bay that turned back out of curiosity and stayed nearby for nearly an hour. Moments like that are impossible to plan, which is part of what makes them meaningful.

I tend to think of photography less as taking a shot and more as capturing an interaction—between the subject, the environment, and timing. Light, movement, and behavior all play a role, and you are just there trying to read it correctly.

The goal is simple: show people what is out there in a way that feels real, and hopefully make them care a little more about it.
